Resort staff required to quarantine when travelling between resorts

Ministry of Tourism has mandated resort employees to undergo quarantine when travelling between resorts.

The tourism ministry has revised its guidelines on quarantine following the increase in COVID-19 cases in resorts. Although employees were not previously required to undergo quarantine when travelling between resorts operated under the same management, the tourism ministry has revised this policy effective from January 19.

As per the amended guideline, any resort employee travelling between any two resorts are required to undergo quarantine from 10 days. Employees can only begin working after returning a negative PCR test result at the end of the 10-day quarantine period.

The tourism ministry stated the guideline has been revised as part of efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 in resorts. COVID-19 cases in resorts have started to rise since late December, coinciding with the peak season of tourism. The tourism ministry had earlier stated most of the cases are originating from staff members, rather than incoming tourists.
