Environment ministry staff who travelled to Nilandhoo tests positive for COVID-19

A staff of Ministry of Environment who travelled to Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll has tested positive for COVID-19.

The President of Nilandhoo Council Mohamed Jameel said the team from the environment ministry arrived in Nilandhoo on January 20 to survey the waste management centre in the island. Jameel revealed the staff was found positive for COVID-19 on January 24 after returning to Male’.

Jameel said individuals who contacted the staff have been asked to quarantine. He added a total of 30 individuals have been quarantined after contact tracing.

The island council reassured the public the environment ministry’s team abided by the precautionary measures imposed by Health Protection Agency (HPA) during the whole trip.
