No new cases detected from Thooddoo since January 26

Thoddoo Island Council has stated no new cases of COVID-19 have been detected from the island since January 26.

Two days earlier, Thoddoo was placed under monitoring after a pre-school teacher who came to Male’ from the island tested positive for COVID-19. Health Protection Agency (HPA) said samples have been collected from the island on two occasions in relation to the case.

Thoddoo Health Centre said 29 samples which were collected initially tested negative while 30 more samples collected later have been sent to Male’ for testing. According to the health centre, people who were identified as direct contacts of the positive case were tested in the first round and the pending samples are collected from patients who sought medical treatment due to COVID-19 like symptoms. The island council revealed all individuals related to the case are undergoing quarantine.

Thoddoo is still under monitoring and travelling in and out of the island is prohibited.
