Health Protection Agency (HPA) has placed Mathiveri, Alifu Alifu Atoll under monitoring after the detection of active COVID-19 cases.
A person undergoing home quarantine in Mathiveri had tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, 2 contacts of the initial case were also found positive for the virus.
The Mathiveri Island Council said samples have been collected from 47 individuals, stating the monitoring situation will only be lifted considering the results of the samples. The school, cafes and restaurants as well as shops have been closed in the island as precautionary measures.
There are four islands currently under monitoring due to active COVID-19 cases. This includes Dhevvadhoo, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Kolhufushi, Meemu Atoll and Muraidhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll.
