Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed COVID-19 vaccination of senior citizens above the age of 65 has commenced in the Male’ region.
HPA stated vaccination of individuals over the age of 65 living in the Male’ region will be carried out every day from 0900hrs to 1700hrs starting from February 4. HPA said vaccination will take place in the Social Centre in Male’ and the Hulhumale’ Flu Clinic.
HPA requested individuals who have been called for vaccination to carry their national ID or other official identification document when going for vaccination. The agency said individuals receiving the vaccine must not have any COVID-19 symptoms and must not be under quarantine. The agency also called individuals going for vaccination to have a proper meal and to take their own water bottle. Individuals receiving the vaccine are also required to provide the information of any medication they are currently taking.
HPA has established a registration portal for vaccination. HPA said individuals who register at the portal will be called in for vaccination based on the priority order. Individuals who have not registered at the portal can seek assistance in registration from the vaccination centres.
Over 1,500 people have been vaccinated in the Maldives since the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination programme on February 1. Priority is given to healthcare workers, frontline social workers and senior citizens.
