Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed over 3,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Maldives during the first four days of vaccination.
As per the statistics of HPA, 1,626 people were vaccinated on February 4, including 1,477 people in the Greater Male’ Area and 149 people in the atolls. This was more than double the amount of people vaccinated on the previous day.
With the latest update, HPA revealed 3,204 people have so far been vaccinated in the Maldives. This includes 2,786 people in the Male’ area and 418 people in the atolls.
COVID-19 vaccination began in the Maldives on February 1. During the first round of vaccination, priority is given to healthcare workers, frontline social workers and senior citizens above the age of 65.
The first round of the vaccination in the Maldives will see the rollout of 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, which is prepared using the same formula as the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine. Two shots of the vaccine are required to complete the dosage, with 4 weeks required between the two shots.
