Maldives reports 127 additional COVID-19 cases

Maldives has reported 127 additional COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

As per the latest statistics of HPA, 127 new cases were detected in the Maldives between 1800hrs on February 6 and 1800hrs on February 7. This includes 92 cases from the Greater Male’ Region, 15 cases from inhabited islands in atolls, 13 cases from operational resorts and 7 cases from non-operational resorts.

With the latest update, the total number of cases reported in the Maldives has risen to 16,783, including 2,117 active cases. There are currently 207 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals or medical facilities. A total of 55 people have passed away from COVID-19 in the Maldives, including 47 locals and 8 expatriates.

COVID-19 cases in the Maldives have increased sharply since the beginning of January. As part of efforts to contain the spread of the disease, HPA has tightened restrictions in the Maldives, with curfews imposed in the Male’ region.
