Over 3,000 people vaccinated on February 8

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed over 3,000 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Maldives on February 8.

As per the latest statistics of HPA, 3,190 people were vaccinated in the Maldives on February 8, which is the highest single-day figure so far. This includes 2,663 people in the Male’ area and 527 people in the atolls.

Since the beginning of the vaccination programme on February 1, a total of 12,934 people have been vaccinated including 10,626 people in the Male’ area and 2,308 people in the atolls.

The first round of the vaccination in the Maldives will see the rollout of 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, granted to the Maldives by India. Two shots of the vaccine are required to complete the dosage, with 4 weeks required between the two shots.

Vaccination is currently carried out in 6 centres in the Male’ area and 14 centres in the atolls.
