Another 100 COVID-19 cases reported in the Maldives

Health Protection Agency (HPA) reports 100 new COVID-19 cases in the Maldives on February 10.

As per the latest statistics of HPA, 100 new cases were detected in the Maldives between 1800hrs on February 9 and 1800hrs on February 10. This includes 75 cases from the Greater Male’ Region, 10 cases from inhabited islands in atolls and 15 cases from resorts.

With the latest update, the total number of cases reported in the Maldives has risen to 17,201, including 2,160 active cases. There are currently 214 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals or medical facilities. A total of 56 people have passed away from COVID-19 in the Maldives, including 48 locals and 8 expatriates.

COVID-19 cases in the Maldives have increased sharply since the beginning of January. As part of efforts to contain the spread of the disease, HPA has tightened restrictions in the Maldives, with curfews imposed in the Male’ region.

Meanwhile, vaccination has begun in the Maldives on February 1.
