Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced the government's decision to ban movement of land vehicles within the Greater Male' Region between 1800hrs and 0600hrs.
Following a surge of COVID-19 cases in the country after the government decided to ease the lockdown restrictions, the government has imposed stricter measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Maldives. In this regard, a vehicle ban has been imposed from 1800hrs to 0600hrs daily effective immediately until further notice. However, individuals are allowed to be out on foot until 2300hrs. HPA stated the decision was deemed necessary to control the spread of COVID-19 in the Maldives.
Daily number of COVID-19 cases in the Maldives have been alarmingly high for the past one month. There are currently over 2,200 active cases across the country.
