Health Protection Agency (HPA) and Maldives Red Crescent (MRC) have begun mobile COVID-19 vaccination service in the Maldives.
Speaking at a press conference held at Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC), Secretary General of MRC Fathimath Himya said mobile vaccination service is jointly conducted by HPA, MRC and Dhamanaveshi. Himya said under this service, MRC teams visit households to vaccinate elderly and bed-ridden people. She said individuals who wish to register for the service can do so through Dhamanaveshi.
Furthermore, Himya said MRC is currently assisting the vaccination programme in the country by helping individuals get registered at the vaccination centres and providing assistance to individuals getting vaccinated. She noted MRC is also providing ambulance service for any emergency situation that may arise upon vaccination.
COVID-19 vaccination commenced in the Maldives on February 1. So far, over 30,000 people have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
