Over 43,000 people vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Maldives

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed over 43,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the Maldives.

As per the latest statistics of HPA, 5,204 people were vaccinated in the Maldives on February 15. This includes 3,967 people in the Male’ area and 1,237 people in the atolls. Since the beginning of the vaccination programme on February 1, a total of 43,817 people have been vaccinated including 35,289 people in the Male’ area, 8,429 people in the atolls and 99 people in resorts.

The first round of the vaccination in the Maldives will see the rollout of 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, granted to the Maldives by India. Two shots of the vaccine are required to complete the dosage, with 4-12 weeks required between the two shots.

Vaccination is currently carried out in 8 centres in the Male’ area and 56 centres in the atolls.
