Health Protection Agency (HPA) has maintained the curfew imposed in the Greater Male’ Region.
On February 2, a vehicle curfew was imposed in the Male’ Region from 2030hrs till 0430hrs, along with a total curfew from 2300hrs till 0430hrs, effective for two weeks starting from February 3. The vehicle ban was later changed from 1800hrs till 0600hrs.
A circular signed by Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru on February 16 stated the curfew and measures imposed in the Male’ region has been maintained for another two weeks. The curfew has been maintained due to the continued surge of COVID-19 cases in the capital.
COVID-19 cases have increased sharply in the Maldives for since January. Daily numbers have been above 100 for nearly a month.
