Health Protection Agency (HPA) has commenced COVID-19 vaccination of all individuals above the age of 35.
HPA stated vaccination of all individuals over the age of 35 living in the Male’ region will be carried out every day from 0900hrs to 1700hrs starting from February 18. HPA said vaccination will take place in the Social Centre in Male’, Islamic Centre, Villimale’ Youth Centre and Hulhumale' Vaccination Centre.
HPA requested individuals going for vaccination to carry their national ID or other official identification document with them. The agency said individuals receiving the vaccine must not have any COVID-19 symptoms and must not be under quarantine.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination programme on February 1, 56,218 people have been vaccinated in the Maldives. This includes 43,838 people in the Greater Male’ Area and 12,380 people in the atolls.
The first round of the vaccination in the Maldives will see the rollout of 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, granted to the Maldives by India. Two shots of the vaccine are required to complete the dosage, with 4-12 weeks required between the two shots.
