Health Protection Agency (HPA) has opened registration for group vaccination of employees working in companies and organisations.
HPA has allocated focal points for registration of group vaccination for companies and organisations of different fields and sectors. As such, cafes, restaurants, shops and private companies are required to register for group vaccination through Ministry of Economic Development. Meanwhile, sports clubs, associations and civil society organisations are required to contact Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment to register for group vaccination. Companies working in fisheries and agriculture are required to contact Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, while companies working in the tourism sector are required to contact Ministry of Tourism.
COVID-19 vaccination began in the Maldives on February 1. Currently, vaccines are being administered for high risk individuals between the age of 18 and 35, and all individuals above the age of 35. Over 64,000 people have so far been vaccinated in the Maldives.
The first round of the vaccination in the Maldives will see the rollout of 100,000 doses of Covishield vaccine, granted to the Maldives by India. Two shots of the vaccine are required to complete the dosage, with 4-12 weeks required between the two shots.
