Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine has been administered to 46% of the population that can be vaccinated in the Maldives.
HPA revealed 7,908 people were vaccinated on March 14 across the Maldives, including 4,941 people in the Greater Male’ Region and 2,967 people in the atolls. A total of 206,114 people have been vaccinated in the Maldives since the beginning of the COVID-19 vaccination programme on February 1, including 116,636 people in the Greater Male’ Region and 89,478 people in the atolls. This accounts to 46% of the population that can be vaccinated in the Maldives.
Vaccination is currently open for all individuals above the age of 18. HPA announced it will start administering the second dose of the vaccine starting from March 15. HPA stated from March 15 onwards, priority in administering the first dose will be given to high-risk individuals.
Vaccination is currently carried out in 8 centres in the Male’ area and 169 centres across the atolls. Two mobile vaccination teams are also active in administering the vaccine in the Male’ area.
