The Government of Japan has extended grant assistance to develop the health centre in Bodufolhudhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll.
The grant to assist the development of Bodufolhudhoo Health Centre was provided under the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Japanese government. In this regard, a grant of USD 116,000 has been allocated for the development of Bodufolhudhoo Health Centre.
The grant agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health on March 15. The agreement was signed by the Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Keiko Yanai and the President of Bodufolhudhoo Association of Awareness, Recreation and Unity (AARU) Adam Riyaz. The project will be carried out directly by AARU.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health Safiyya Mohamed Saeed said the grant assistance will help to develop maternal and pediatric healthcare services as well as laboratory services in Bodufolhudhoo Health Centre. Acknowledging the continued assistance of Japan to the development of healthcare services in the Maldives, she expressed hope Japan will continue extending further assistance to the health sector of the Maldives.
