President congratulates MNDF officer who won Best International Student Award at RMA Sandhurst

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated Seargent Firushana Thaufeeq of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) who was selected as the Best International Student at the Royal Military Academy (RMA) Sandhurst.

The achievement of Seargent Firushana Thaufeeq was announced by MNDF on March 20. In a tweet of congratulations, President Solih said the Seargent Firushana’s achievements have made the whole nation proud, especially considering she is the first female Maldivian to attend Sandhurst.

Meanwhile, Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi and Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdulla Shamaal also sent their congratulations to Seargent Firushana Thaufeeq on this remarkable achievement. They both noted this was a proud moment for MNDF as well as the Maldives.

RMA Sandhurst is one of the most prestigous military academies of the United Kingdom and is the British Army's initial officer training centre. Seargent Firushana Thaufeeq is the first female Maldivian officer to undergo training at the academy.
