Health Protection Agency (HPA) has opened the opportunity to register to receive the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
HPA said the second dose of the vaccine will only be administered under special circumstances, for the time being. This includes vaccinating individuals who cannot return to the Maldives within 12 weeks of receiving the first dose.
Speaking at a press conference, Director of HPA Ahmed Nasir said a person is considered eligible to receive the second dose if they are travelling abroad for medical and educational purposes. He added the second dose will only be administered if 4 weeks have passed since the inoculation of the first dose and if the person cannot return to the Maldives within 12 weeks since the inoculation of the first dose.
HPA has asked individuals who require the second dose to call its hotline for registration. HPA said all supporting documents must be submitted along with national identification cards and vaccine cards.
