Land reclamation and shore protection project in Dhiggaru officially inaugurated

The land reclamation and shore protection project in Dhiggaru, Meemu Atoll has been officially inaugurated.

The project had been contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) in November last year. Following site mobilisation, the project was officially inaugurated by MTCC’s CEO Adam Azim and Parliamentarian for Dhiggaru constituency Ikram Hassan, during a special ceremony held on March 24. The ceremony was attended by a large number of people from Dhiggaru.

The project involves reclamation of 25 hectares of land in Dhiggaru, and building a rock-boulder revetment around the reclaimed area. The project, which is worth USD 7.9 million, is expected to be completed within 15 months.
