HPA lifts vehicle curfew restrictions, reopens parks and public spaces

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted the vehicle curfew imposed in the Greater Male’ Region, and has allowed the reopening of parks and public spaces in the capital.

In a press release signed by Director General of Public Health Maimoona Aboobakuru, HPA stated the vehicle ban imposed from 1800hrs to 0600hrs has been lifted, while parks and public spaces are now open for use. However, the safety measures issued initially by HPA on March 4 has been extended by another seven days. The measures include a curfew from 2300hrs to 0430hrs, the ban on groups of more than five people in public, the closure of cinemas, theaters, and running tracks. Other measures to be extended are the ban on exercise classes, the requirement for travellers to have negative PCR tests, as well as the ban on day care centres and holding classes at universities and colleges, schools and nurseries.

HPA stated security and health service workers, emergency vehicles, prayer-goers and those in need of emergency services are exempt from the measures.
