Health Protection Agency (HPA) has decided to permit students of LKG to Grade 6 studying in the Greater Male' Region to attend schools from April 1 onwards.
The second semester of the 2020 academic year began on January 10 with students being able to attend classes after a significant decrease in COVID-19 cases. However, after a third wave of the pandemic, authorities increased restrictions in Male' City which required students in grade 6 and lower grades to attend classes online.
Upon discussions between the Ministry of Education and HPA, students in lower grades have been permitted to attend school starting from April 1. Staff and students are required to wear masks at all times in school, and arrangements must be made in school to carry out frequent handwashing and temperature checks.
As per the statistics of HPA, there have been very few positive cases in schools, and even fewer cases where staff and students had to be quarantined.
