Ministry of Education has decided to allow students who had applied for the May/June A2 and AS Level Examinations to reapply for the October/November exams.
The education ministry made the decision after Edexcel rescheduled the May/June exams to April/May. In a press release, the ministry stated students can reapply to undertake their exams in October/November.
The ministry also initially stated it will only accept results from the April/May exams for the top ten awards and scholarships. However, upon concerns from students, the ministry reviewed the decision and decided to confer top ten awards and scholarships to students regardless of the exam series they sit.
Previously, the A’Level exams had been set to begin on May 5 and to end on June 17. However, the education ministry stated Edexcel has made changes to its A2 and AS exam schedule without consulting the ministry or the Department of Public Examination, adding the ministry was unable to negotiate with Edexcel on changing the exam to the previous schedule.
Due to the new schedule, the local Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) exams have been set for June 13 to 17, which is one month after the A2 and AS exams.
