HPA lifts curfew in Greater Male’ Region

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has lifted the curfew imposed in the Greater Male’ Region.

HPA had imposed a daily curfew from 2330hrs to 0430hrs in the Greater Male’ Region as part of efforts to control the spread of COVID-19 in the capital. However, HPA announced on April 1 that the curfew has been lifted.

In addition to lifting the curfew, HPA has also eased some of the restrictions imposed in the Male’ area. As such, cinemas and film theatres are permitted to reopen as per HPA guidelines, while running tracks have also been reopened. Meanwhile, universities and colleges have been permitted to conduct face-to-face classes.

However, HPA has still maintained the ban on gatherings of more than 5 people. Individuals travelling from the Male’ area to other regions are still required to undergo quarantine, while individuals travelling to the atolls for the provision of services or other essential purposes are required to undertake a PCR test 72 hours before departure. Meanwhile, parties, ceremonies and other similar events are prohibited.
