Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has handed over the operations of the sewerage system in Maradhoo, Feydhoo and Maradhoo-feydhoo wards of Addu City to Fenaka Corporation Limited.
The operations of the newly installed sewerage system in three wards of Addu City were handed over to the state utilities company Fenaka, during a ceremony held to mark the completion of the project. The project to develop the sewerage system in Addu was undertaken by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Ahmed Saeed Mohamed assured the people of Addu City that the company will provide a sustainable and uninterrupted sewerage service in Addu. He added Fenaka has opened registration for installation of household connections to the sewerage system.
Speaking at the ceremony, CEO of MTCC Adam Azim said the project had undergone long delays due to various reasons, mainly concerning the outfall stations. He noted the company places its priority in ensuring the project is undertaken without compromising quality standards, rather than finishing the project in a hurry.
During the ceremony, MTCC also marked the completion of the shore protection project in Feydhoo. The project involved the construction of a 25-feet long, 4-feet high revetment in the swimming track area of Feydhoo. The project was undertaken as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of MTCC.
