Over 300 COVID-19 cases detected from Felivaru

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed 347 COVID-19 cases have been detected from Felivaru, Lhaviyani Atoll.

HPA stated there are 925 active COVID-19 cases in 65 islands across the atolls. HPA said most active cases were detected from Felivaru, with 347 people currently infected with COVID-19 in the industrial island. HPA stated 750 samples were taken from the island after discovering 550 individuals had been in contact with those who tested positive.

The second highest number of cases were detected from Naifaru, Lhaviyani Atoll. HPA said 179 cases were detected from the island, adding 1,260 samples were taken after discovering 245 individuals had been in contact with those who tested positive.

Meanwhile, Huraa, Kaafu Atoll has the third highest number of COVID-19 cases. HPA said 138 cases were detected from the island, adding 572 samples were taken after discovering 250 individuals had been in contact with those who tested positive.

Another 105 cases were detected from Dhiffushi, Kaafu Atoll. HPA has taken 598 samples from the island after discovering 730 individuals were in contact with those who tested positive.

HPA has placed 17 islands under monitoring and are working on contract tracing and taking random samples to stop the spread of COVID-19.
