MTCC concludes Rakeedhoo harbour development project

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has concluded the harbour development project of Rakeedhoo, Vaavu Atoll.

MTCC was awarded the design and construction of Rakeedhoo harbour on October 1, 2019 and the project was mobilised on June 8, 2020. MTCC said the project involved dredging and excavation of 5,645-cubic-metres, dredging operations of 5,554-cubic-metres for a new harbour basin and dredging of 100-cubic-metres for the existing harbour entrance channel of the island.

MTCC said the project also included construction of a 156-metre-long breakwater, a 164-metre quay wall and a 74-metre revetment. In addition, the construction of a 429-square-metre paved area and the installation of harbour and navigational lights were also carried out as part of the project. The project was completed at a cost of USD 1.19 million.
