Defence Minister inaugurates fire station in Hulhumeedhoo

Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has inaugurated the newly developed fire station in Hulhumeedhoo, Addu City.

The inaugural ceremony was held with the participation of Mayor of Addu City Abdulla Sodiq and members of the Addu City Council, as well as the Southern Area Commander Colonel Ibrahim Rasheed and other officers from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

At the ceremony, Minister Mariya said residents of Hulhumeedhoo have great expectations for the fire station, as previously it took an average of 30 minutes for firefighters from nearby Hithadhoo to respond to fires in Hulhumeedhoo.

With the inauguration of the Hulhumeedhoo fire station, MNDF will have four fire stations in the southern area and a total of 31 fire stations across the country.
