President calls on Maldivians to embrace Islamic values during Ramadan

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called on all Maldivian citizens to embrace Islamic values such as kindness, generosity and empathy towards those less fortunate during Ramadan.

Addressing the nation on the occasion of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, President Solih highlighted the exemplary way the world came together during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting each other on a global scale. The President noted how it aligned with the spirit of Ramadan in showing kindness and compassion to each other. He urged citizens to be conscious of these values and lessons as the holy month approaches.

President Solih acknowledged the economic difficulties arising from the pandemic, as well as the distress it caused. Nevertheless, he stated that he was reassured the Maldivian citizens would overcome these obstacles as the spirit of unity had since grown.

The President extended greetings and felicitations of the occasion to the people of the Maldives and the leaders and people of other Muslim countries. He also stressed the importance of engaging in good deeds, daily prayers and recitation of the Quran during this month.
