State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has commenced installation of power cables over the Sinamale’ Bridge as part of the Greater Male’ Interconnection Project.
STELCO stated the project to interconnect power grids across the Greater Male’ Area is reaching its final stages, following the installation of distribution systems and transformers in Male’, Hulhumale’ and Hulhule’. STELCO said cables are currently being laid over the Sinamale’ Bridge as part of the project. The company said 93% of the project has been completed.
The power grid established under the project would connect Male', Hulhule' and Hulhumale' via an interconnection cable through the Sinamale’ Bridge and the highway. STELCO revealed the network cable can carry 100 MW of electricity. STELCO expects the project to sustainably provide electricity service without interruptions.
The project is funded by a loan arranged from the Exim Bank of China.
