Tourists who have completed vaccine dosage not required to undergo PCR test before arrival

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated tourists who have completed the COVID-19 vaccine dosage will not be required to undergo a PCR test before arriving in the Maldives.

As per the latest guideline issued by HPA, tourists who have completed two weeks after receiving the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will not be required to take a PCR test or undergo quarantine in the Maldives. The change comes into effect on April 20.

Speaking to PSM News on the change of guideline, Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom said this was a long awaited change, as tourists face difficulties in completing the PCR test before arriving in the Maldives. He said the change is expected to boost tourist arrivals in the country.

The tourism minister also noted the revised guidelines allow resort employees to travel to their home islands without quarantine upon completing the vaccine dosage. He noted vaccination is being conducted in tourist facilities at a rapid rate, with over 90% of frontline staff in the industry having received the first dose of the vaccine.
