HPA begins administering second dose of Sinopharm vaccine

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has started administering the second dose of Sinopharm vaccine.

HPA said the second dose of Sinopharm is being rolled out in the Greater Male' Region for those who received their first dose between March 22 and 23. The second dose of Sinopharm vaccine is being administered from 2100hrs to 2330hrs at the Parliament Secretariat and from 2030hrs to 2300hrs at Tree Top Hospital. HPA added those who are not fasting can get the second dose from 1000hrs to 1200hrs at Tree Top Hospital.

Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has permitted the inoculation of three vaccines produced against COVID-19. As such, the Maldives is utilising Covishield, Pfizer and Sinopharm vaccines.

The Sinopharm vaccine is manufactured by China's state-owned pharmaceutical company Sinopharm. The Pfizer vaccine is manufactured by American pharmaceutical company Pfizer and German biotechnology company BioNTech SE. Covishield vaccine is manufactured by the Serum Institute of India (SII), based on the research of Oxford University and AstraZeneca.
