MNDF captures five foreign boats that were fishing illegally in the Maldives

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has captured five foreign fishing boats in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Maldives.

MNDF stated the Coast Guard spotted the boats 30 nautical miles east of Meemu Atoll on April 28. The fishing boats were seen keeping distance from each other in the area. MNDF did not reveal the nationalities of the crewmen on the boats.

MNDF stated it has begun investigating the case, and efforts are underway to escort the boats to Male' City.
