Health Protection Agency (HPA) has reported an additional three COVID-19 deaths in the Maldives on May 14.
HPA revealed an 86-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man had passed away in the early hours of May 14 while undergoing treatment at Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF). HPA confirmed the death of another 86-year-old woman undergoing treatment at the DH11 Facility in Dharumavantha Hospital in the morning of May 14, bringing the COVID-19 death toll in the Maldives to 90.
Maldives is currently experiencing its worst wave of COVID-19 yet. The country reported 1,216 new cases on May 13, including 1,013 cases in the Greater Male’ Region. There are over 13,000 active cases and over 250 COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment in hospitals or medical facilities.
Due to the record surge of COVID-19 cases, a curfew has been imposed in the Greater Male’ Region from 1600hrs until 0400hrs. All movement is prohibited during curfew hours, unless a police permit is obtained.
