The Government of the Maldives has awarded higher education loans for 449 students seeking higher studies in the Maldives and abroad.
Ministry of Higher Education prepared the final list of loan recipients for 2021, after evaluating the complaints received to the preliminary list. The final list included 449 awardees, up from the 417 that were awarded loans in the preliminary list. The higher education ministry said the awardees will receive their loan award notification through email on June 24.
The government’s higher education loan scheme for 2021 was announced in February. Unlike other years, this year’s loan scheme had slots allocated for individuals with disabilities, as well as provisions for additional expenditure undertaken by students who move from the atolls to Male’ for their studies. Number of countries to which full funding is available was also increased in this year’s loan scheme.
