HPA allows travel between islands not under monitoring

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has allowed travel between islands that are not under monitoring.

Travel was initially restricted to essential tasks due to the spike in the number of COVID-19 cases in the atolls. However, HPA has begun to ease restrictions due to the decreasing number of positive cases in the country. As part of the eased measures, HPA stated individuals can travel between islands that are not under monitoring and are not required to undergo quarantine after arrival.

At a press conference at the HEOC, Spokesperson at the President's Office Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said people are still required to follow the guidelines from the HPA, such as wearing masks and keeping a distance of three feet from each other.

While HPA has eased travel restrictions in the atolls, the Spokesperson of the HEOC Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said residents in Male' City are still only allowed to travel for essential tasks. She also said individuals wishing to travel to islands with guesthouses can only do so for essential tasks and after obtaining a permit from the island council.

HEOC stated it will continue to ease restrictions to solve the difficulties faced by businesses and the public.
