RCC contracted to build a new school in Hulhumale’ Phase II

Ministry of Education has contracted Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) Private Limited to construct a new school in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

The contract for the project to build a new school in Hulhumale’ Phase II was signed during a ceremony held at the education ministry on June 27. The contract was signed by State Minister of Education Ahmed Riyaz and Managing Director of RCC Ahmed Rasheed.

The project, worth over USD 15 million, was contracted to RCC on a design-and-build basis. The project is carried out under contractor-finance policy, with re-financing to be carried out over 5 years. The project duration is 18 months.

This is the second school to be contracted for construction in Hulhumale’ Phase II. In February, the education ministry had contracted Amin Construction Private Limited to construct a school to be named “Salaahuddeen School” in Hulhumale’ Phase II.

The education ministry said a total of 4 schools are planned to be constructed in Hulhumale’ Phase II. Three of the schools are to be developed under contractor finance, design and build, while the other school is an international school to be developed by a foreign party. All schools would teach from grades 1-10, and would have a capacity of 1,000-1,200 students.
