Addu Emergency Operations Centre (AEOC) has eased restrictions imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Addu City.
As such AEOC has reduced the curfew hours in Hithadhoo and has allowed businesses to provide takeaway services in Addu City. AEOC announced the changes at a press conference, following a decrease in the number of positive cases from the random samples gathered in the region.
In Hithadhoo, the curfew has been reduced to between 2100hrs and 0400hrs, and shops can now serve customers from 0600hrs to 2100hrs, and provide delivery services from 2100hrs to 2200hrs. Furthermore, restaurants and cafés, and other food outlets in Hithadhoo are also allowed to provide delivery services from 0800hrs to 2200hrs and provide takeaway services during non-curfew hours. In other areas, AEOC has allowed businesses to provide takeaway and delivery services until 2200hrs and has also allowed food stalls to provide takeaway and delivery services.
At the press conference, Deputy Mayor of Addu City Mohamed Shuaau said further ease of restrictions will be discussed based on the number of positive cases recorded in the next three days. Statistics show there are currently 64 active COVID-19 cases in Addu City, including 54 cases in Hithadhoo and 10 cases in Maradhoo.
