Ministry of Education has awarded contracts to establish satellite schools in the islands of Rakeedhoo and Thinadhoo in Vaavu Atoll.
The contract to develop a satellite school in Rakeedhoo was awarded to Esbro Maldives Private Limited at a price of USD 187,000. Meanwhile, the contract to develop a satellite school in Thinadhoo was awarded to Silver Group Private Limited at a price of USD 87,000. Both contracts were signed at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Education on July 4.
Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali had earlier announced the decision to establish satellite schools in inhabited islands which do not have a school at the start of the upcoming academic year. The minister stated all islands with satellite schools would have a building where students can attend classes, with teachers to be allocated for each grade. The minister revealed extra-curricular activities will be carried out in coordination with other schools.
