Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced appointments for the second dose of the Covishield COVID-19 vaccines can be made online through the QueueBee application.
The health agency stated only individuals who received the first dose of Covishield between February 1 and March 15 will be approved for the second dose. HPA stated it will continue to reach out by phone to assist in vaccination appointments to ensure greater coverage.
HPA will be giving out the allotted number of tokens from 0900hrs to 1200hrs and will be distributing 590 tokens for the appointments at 1000hrs and 590 tokens for the appointments at 1300hrs. The second dose of the Covishield vaccines will be administered at the Social Centre, Islamic Centre, National Art Gallery and Hulhumale' Vaccination Centre. HPA urged individuals to arrive at their appointments on time with their national identity cards or another form of identification, as well as their vaccination cards confirming they have received the first dose.
The government has greatly scaled down its distribution of Covishield due to the difficulties in obtaining the doses.
Maldives began its COVID-19 vaccination programme on February 1 with the first 100,000 doses of the Covishield vaccine donated by the Government of India. A large part of the Maldivian population has now received the first dose of the Covishield vaccine. However, HPA suspended the rollout of Covishield in May due to decreasing stocks of the vaccine in the Maldives.
