Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with the officials from Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) ahead of the upcoming holidays, to get the latest update on the current COVID-19 situation. The meeting was held at Dharubaaruge on July 14.
During the meeting, Vice President Naseem was briefed on the most recent COVID-19 statistics in the country. He noted that hospitalisations had gone down significantly, which indicated that restrictive measures working; however, he stated that there was still room for operational improvements. He also inquired about the quarantine and isolation facilities, and said that it should be adjusted according to the current situations.
At the meeting, Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem emphasised the importance of vaccination and increasing vaccination numbers. Officials from HEOC informed the vice president about the potential implications of the eased restrictions and reiterated that travelling between islands should be limited unless it is absolutely necessary.
The vice president was joined at the meeting by the Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem, State Ministers of Health Dr. Shah Abdul Mahir and Ahmed Adil, along with the senior officials of HEOC.
