Maldives Polytechnic has stated registration is open for workers without educational credentials, to join a programme to obtain academic certificates. The decision is part of the Ministry of Higher Education's pledge to officially recognise individuals who have been working without academic certificates.
Maldives National Skills Development Authority is responsible for implementing the National Trade Testing and Certification, which allows individuals to officially gain recognition for their work experience through testing and obtaining academic certificates.
Maldives Polytechnic stated it will provide applicants with the time and materials needed to prepare for the examinations and will check whether the participants in the programme have prepared for the tests. The programme has been made available to as many people as possible and that applicants will be able to take the tests anywhere in the Maldives, stated Maldives Polytechnic.
Participants in islands with a low number of other participants will be able to travel to nearby islands that are holding the examinations. The certificates awarded upon completion of the programme are recognised by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA), stated higher education ministry.
Applicants of any age will be allowed to participate in the programme if they have been employed for five consecutive years.
