Maldivians, work permit holders exempt from quarantine upon arrival

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced Maldivians and work permit holders are exempt from undergoing quarantine upon arrival to the Maldives.

HPA stated Maldivians and work permit holders are required to have a negative PCR result that was obtained 72 hours prior to their arrival to the Maldives from July 26 onwards. Travellers arriving in the Maldives who are exempt from undergoing quarantine include individuals who had tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives less than 60 days prior to their arrival, as well as individuals who completed their vaccine doses 14 days prior to their arrival, also stated HPA.

Children are also exempt from undergoing quarantine but are required to take a PCR test within 5 to 7 days after their arrival.

Travellers who do not fulfill the requirements are required to undergo a quarantine of 14 days upon arrival and will be released after they test negative for COVID-19. Individuals should obtain a permit through the HPA portal prior to travelling to the Maldives, added HPA saying that the ease of restrictions will also depend on the COVID-19 situation in the country they are residing in.
