Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed the new COVID-19 medical facility being developed in Hulhumale’ will be completed by October.
The new facility, to be named “Orange Hiyaa”, is being developed in a building that had been used as a distribution centre of HDC. The facility is being developed up to two stories.
HDC revealed 41% of the facility’s infrastructure is now completed. HDC said ongoing works include installation of partitions and ceilings, fabrication and painting. The state-owned company said the facility is expected to be fully completed by October.
Meanwhile, Health Emergency Operation Centre (HEOC) has revealed efforts are underway to acquire the necessary equipment and staff for the new facility. HEOC stated several equipment used in the Hulhumale’ Medical Facility (HMF) would be transferred to the new facility.
HEOC states oxygen will be supplied to the new facility through a pipeline connected to an oxygen station, rather than carrying oxygen cylinders. HEOC said the equipment needed tfor the supply of oxygen are being procured from abroad.
HDC began construction of the new facility in June. Since the start of the project, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem have both visited the site to inspect progress. HDC states it is working on completing the facility and handing it over to the government as soon as possible.
