Health Protection Agency (HPA) has allowed walk-in vaccinations in the Greater Male' Region.
HPA stated all vaccine centres administering AstraZeneca vaccine in the Greater Malé Region will be open for walk-in vaccinations. HPA said it will be administrating the AstraZeneca vaccine from the social centre, Islamic Centre, National Art Gallery and Villimale' Hospital. However, HPA stated individuals with pre-booked appointments will be given priority.
The government began administering COVID-19 vaccines in February this year. Since then, over 329,000 individuals have received the first dose and 282,000 individuals have completed their vaccine doses. The government is continuing a nationwide programme to vaccinate 90% of the eligible Maldivian population by the end of August.
Health Emergency Operations Centre (HEOC) has stated 21% of the eligible Maldivian population remains unvaccinated and 40% of vaccinated individuals have yet to receive the second dose. HPA has called on all eligible citizens to receive their vaccinations and warned special guidelines will be put in place for unvaccinated individuals from September 1 onwards.
