Addu Emergency Operation Centre (AEOC) has revealed Addu City has been placed under monitoring once again due to a rise in COVID-19 cases in the city.
AEOC revealed Addu City was placed under monitoring on August 28, with a curfew also imposed from 2100hrs until 0400hrs in the connected wards of Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-feydhoo and Feydhoo. In addition, schools in Addu have been closed for grades 9 and below, with classes for these grades to be conducted online for the next two weeks.
AEOC further revealed gyms and salons have been ordered to suspend their services until further notice. Furthermore, cafes, restaurants and food outlets are required to close by 2100hrs, with delivery services permitted until 0000hrs.
There are currently 153 active cases in Addu City, including 81 cases in Maradhoo, 36 cases in Hithadhoo, 28 cases in Maradhoo-feydhoo and 19 cases in Feydhoo. Only the wards of Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, which lie separately from the rest of the wards of the city, do not have any active cases.
