Gov't seeks contractors to develop schools in five islands

Ministry of Education has announced it is seeking contractors to develop schools in five islands.

The ministry is seeking contractors to develop existing schools by including facilities such as multi-purpose halls and additional classrooms. The schools planned for development are located at Funadhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, Omadhoo in Thaa Atoll, Himandhoo in Alifu Alifu Atoll, Inguraidhoo in Raa Atoll, and Kanditheemu in Shaviyani Atoll.

The projects consist of establishing 15 classrooms in Funadhoo School, 12 classrooms, and a multi-purpose hall in Himandhoo School, as well as four classrooms, a staff room, and a multi-purpose hall in Inguraidhoo School. The projects also include developing a three-storey building in Omadhoo School and establishing a multi-purpose hall in Shaviyani Atoll School in Kanditheemu. The ministry has specified that contractors are required to build two-storey multi-purpose halls with a restroom, control room, changing room, and storeroom.

The ministry will be accepting bids for developing schools in Himandhoo, Inguraidhoo, Kanditheemu until 1300hrs on September 28. Additionally, the ministry will be accepting bids for developing schools in Funadhoo, and Omadhoo until 1100hrs on September 29.

The government has stated developing the education system in the Maldives is a high priority. As such, the education ministry is currently focused on further developing existing schools in all atolls to modern standards by increasing space and introducing new facilities and resources.
