Ministry of Education has formed a committee to ensure the safety of students.
The education ministry formed the Education in Emergency Advisory Committee to investigate cases that undermine the safety of students. The ministry stated the newly formed committee is tasked with ensuring the safety of students with assistance from the relevant government authorities. The committee is also tasked with providing expert advice and recommendations to the education ministry during emergency situations.
Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali will be chairing the committee, which consists of members representing the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology, Ministry of Finance, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and Maldives Meteorological Service. The committee also consists of members representing the Local Government Authority (LGA), Maldives Police Service (MPS), Health Protection Agency (HPA), and National Counter-Terrorism Centre (NCTC). Additionally, the committee also includes members representing the Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services, the Fire and Rescue Service of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Red Crescent, and the UNICEF Maldives.
The education ministry formed the Education in Emergency Advisory Committee as mandated by the Education Act.
