Civil Service Commission (CSC) has opened applications for the position of Secretary-General (SG) in local councils.
CSC reopened applications after the number of applicants hired earlier for SGs was less than the number of open positions. As such, the commission re-opened applications to seek 74 SGs while previously it had hired 200 applicants for the positions, including 178 for island councils, 18 for atoll councils, and four for city councils.
The requirements for SGs for the island council include having a bachelors' degree qualification, with four years of relevant work experience, or a master's degree with two years of relevant work experience. For atoll councils, a bachelors' degree with six years of experience or a master's degree with four years of experience would be required. Meanwhile, a bachelors' degree with eight years of experience or a master's degree with six years of experience would be required for city councils.
The SG is the highest administrative position in the local council and is responsible for handling the administrative and financial work of the council.
