Reproductive Health Centre opened at Hulhumale' Hospital

Director-General of Public Health Maimoona Abubakr has inaugurated the Reproductive Health Centre at Hulhumale' Hospital.

The Reproductive Health Centre is a first of its kind centre to provide adolescent reproductive health services within one location, in Hulhumale'. The centre was established with aid from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and a partnership between the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Hulhumale' Hospital. The purpose of the centre is to provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, especially for adolescents, young people, women and girls.

CEO of Hulhumale' Hospital Mariya Saeed said the hospital has upgraded the equipment and trained health workers and that the new centre is expected to provide better health services to patients.

The Reproductive Health Centre offers comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services spanning from conception, pregnancy, childbirth, newborn care, adolescent health, response to gender-based violence and the ageing population. The centre also provides essential reproductive health services to adolescents, particularly young women and girls, those with disabilities and other marginalised groups.
